Power BI Quick-Start — a fixed-fee accelerator from EPC Group

Last updated by Errin O'Connor, Founder & Chief AI Architect, EPC Group

EPC Group delivers the Power BI Quick-Start as a fixed-fee accelerator: 4–6 weeks, led by the senior architect named on the Statement of Work, scoped to the deliverables below. The decision it supports: Whether to start Power BI on a governed model from day one instead of growing a sprawl that has to be cleaned up later. Fixed fee, quoted after a 30-minute scoping call. EPC Group does not publish price ranges.

What it is

The quick-start builds the first dashboards the way the estate should keep building them: a star-schema data model connected to the organization's own sources, row-level security designed in rather than bolted on, and a short governance document that names who certifies a dataset and who may publish. Five executive dashboards are delivered on that model so the leadership team sees value in the first weeks.

The point is the model, not the five reports. A quick-start that produces attractive dashboards on an unsound model creates the sprawl the Power BI Health Check later has to diagnose; this one is scoped so the first model is the pattern every later report follows.

Who it is for

Organizations starting their Power BI journey, or ones that need a small set of executive dashboards on a data model that will still be sound when the estate grows.

Start here by size — Stand up the controls. Governance frameworks, security hardening and quick-starts for organizations that already run the platform and need it governed. The organizations EPC Group serves, and the ones it does not, are set out on the fit page.

Deliverables

  • Five executive dashboards connected to your data

Agreed with the sponsor in week one; built on live connections, not extracts.

  • Optimized data model with star-schema design

Conformed dimensions and documented measures so later reports reuse the model.

  • Row-level security configuration

Roles mapped to the organization's groups and tested with the sponsor's own accounts.

  • Basic governance framework documentation

Who certifies, who publishes, how workspaces are named and retired.

  • End-user training (up to 20 users)

Two sessions: reading the dashboards, and self-service on the certified model.

  • 30-day post-delivery support

Fixes and questions as the dashboards enter the leadership cadence.

What is not included

  • Data engineering upstream of the model — new warehouses, lakehouses or pipelines are scoped under the Fabric consulting service.
  • Dashboards beyond the five agreed, or models for additional domains.
  • Capacity purchase or Fabric capacity sizing beyond the recommendation in the governance document.

Anything outside the deliverables above is a change order under the Engagement Charter — written, priced and approved before the work starts.

When to start

  • A leadership team wants dashboards in weeks and the organization has no Power BI standards yet.
  • An earlier Power BI attempt produced reports nobody trusts.
  • A new data platform is live and the first consumers need a governed front end.

How it is priced

Fixed fee, quoted after a 30-minute scoping call. EPC Group does not publish price ranges. The scoping call is run by the architect who would lead the work; the fixed fee, the deliverables and the acceptance criteria are written into the Statement of Work, and the change-control, escalation and acceptance rules are the ones in the Engagement Charter.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. Existing reports are read for the measures and audiences they serve; the dashboards are rebuilt on the new model rather than copied.

Book the scoping call

A 30-minute call with the architect who would lead the Power BI Quick-Start engagement; the fixed fee follows in writing.
