Why Azure OpenAI Service Over Direct OpenAI API

• Data residency by deployment type — data at rest stays in the resource's Azure geography; prompts and responses are processed within that geography (Standard, Regional Provisioned), within the US, EU or APAC data zone (Data Zone) or in any Azure region (Global). Flagged prompts can be sampled for abuse monitoring unless modified abuse monitoring is approved.
• Microsoft Entra identity, conditional access, and PIM apply when the deployment is configured for keyless Entra authentication rather than API keys.
• Purview classification, sensitivity labels, DLP, and Communication Compliance cover prompts and responses when the app is Entra-registered and a DSPM for AI policy captures the interactions — configured, not automatic.
